A FORCE FOR CHANGE
Aoife's Bubbles
We get it.

Childhood cancer is uncomfortable. It's tragic. No-one wants to have to think about it, we certainly wish we didn't.

But... to stop it, we have to think about it, know about it & do something about it.

Childhood cancer is not rare. In fact, it's the number 1 cause of death-by-disease among children.

Every day in the UK, 10 children or young people are diagnosed with cancer.

According to the UK Health Security Agency, "children and young people get different types of cancer to adults", and yet almost all treatment options are adult-tested and often cause further damage to children.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health states that "identifying children with cancer at an early stage can be challenging...and the symptoms and signs can often be mimicked by more common conditions. Public health messages around early recognition of symptoms remain vital. Health professionals, particularly in primary care settings, need better support, training and access to specialist review, to enable early identification of potential cancer diagnoses."
The World Health Organisation posted that "most children with cancer can be cured. Yet, it is a leading cause of death for children. To increase survival rates for childhood cancer:
-
Diagnose on time
-
Access and complete treatment
-
Manage toxicity
-
Monitor for relapse"
